Fibroblasting skin tightening treatment. The Plasma Pen has arrived in Chicago, and we’re proud to offer this new treatment in our offices in Chicago’s Gold Coast, Arlington Heights, Oak Brook and Naperville.

As we age, our skin gets thinner and more frail. We then produces less collagen and elastin. Hence, we lose skin elasticity. When we mix in sun exposure and gravity, the end result is sagging, wrinkled skin. This non-surgical skin tightening procedure targets a wide variety of skin conditions, including loss of skin elasticity, sagging skin and wrinkled skin.

Plasma Pen

What is the Plasma Pen

Plasma Pen is the world’s most advanced, non-invasive, skin lifting, skin tightening and rejuvenation device used to treat wrinkled, sagging, dull skin. The Plasma Pen is an FDA approved, CE approved device used to perform fibroblast therapy, a technique used to stimulate production of collagen in the skin. We have received specialized training for the launch of this new procedure. Please be aware that patients who are pregnant, breast feeding, have active skin infections and/or are on blood-thinning medications are not candidates for the Plasma Pen procedure.

How does the Plasma Pen work?

Our highly trained physicians and staff use the plasma device to delivery plasma energy to stimulate fibroblasting. The plasma significantly tightens, lifts, resurfaces, and regenerates practically any area of the skin.

Plasma Pen converts electrical current energy to ionize molecular nitrogen and transmits that ionized HI-energy gas in the form of a spark to the skin’s surface. This intense heat induces micro-trauma to the skin’s surface and epidermal layer simultaneously, then conducts heat and disrupts the deeper dermal structures. The intense heat and disruption forces the skin cells to respond by healing via signalling recruitment of the special cells called fibroblasts, hence the name “ fibroblasting” or “plasma-induced-fibroblasting.” Fibroblasts are specialised cells, which are the most numerous connective tissue cells in the skin. These cells produce collagen and elastin, which leads to healing and strengthen of your skin. Unfortunately, as we age, the fibroblasts become dormant and inactive fibrocytes. The Plasma Pen treatment aims to re-engage these cells and thus “wake up” the youthful properties of your skin.

What areas of the body can be treated with Plasma Pen?

Fibroblasting produces excellent results for any area of the body, particularly the face and neck regions. It is important for anyone considering fibroblasting treatment to carefully review the Plasma Pen contraindications, post-procedure instructions, risks, and skin types that can be safely treated.

The following areas can respond well to the Plasma Pen procedure:

  • Upper and lower eyelids (bags and hoods around the eyes)
  • Crow’s feet around eyes
  • Smoker’s lines, lipstick lines (unsightly vertical wrinkles around the mouth)
  • Deep smile lines and folds
  • Accordion lines (the vertical cheek wrinkles)
  • Acne scars
  • Forehead lines
  • Jowl/jawline tightening
  • Marionette lines (creases, folds that run vertically from the corners of the mouth down to the chin)
  • Necklines (turkey neck)
  • Stretch marks
  • Xanthelasma
  • Syringomas
  • Lentigenes
  • Moles and warts

What is unique about Plasma Pen vs other fibroblasting devices?

Other fibroblasting devices are often referred to as Plasma Pen but are not the actual trademarked device. Other competitors’ devices can be purchased from China for as little as $100 and are not true plasma technology. At best, they are designed for personal skin tag and mole removal. These pens are not suitable for professional use and can burn and scar your face permanently. It is dangerous.

Many of the technicians performing fibroblasting are not professionally trained. There are many contraindications for fibroblasting,, including but not limited to certain medical conditions, medications and skin types. Also, it is important to mention the specific techniques used to obtain the best results. Do you homework and be very cautious.

How long will it take to see results?

Plasma Pen skin tightening results are impressive but should not be proposed as an alternative to surgery in cases of moderate to severe skin laxity. Only surgery can achieve these kinds of results. You will typically see immediate tightening and a more progressive weekly improvements over the next three months in the appearance of saggy skin. In some cases it may take up to a year for visible, viable results.

Is the Plasma Pen treatment painful?

Some mild discomfort can be experienced during treatment. Everyone’s pain tolerance is different and some areas of the body are more sensitive than others. Lidocaine numbing cream is helpful in reducing the discomfort during treatment. Oral pain medication or ProNox can also be used to ensure comfortability. Click here to read more about ProNoxQ

What are the risks of the Plasma Pen treatment?

The Plasma Pen is a relatively safe treatment, particularly when compared to more invasive cosmetic procedures. However, no procedure is without risks and it’s important to review and understand the contraindications and risks. Risks include:

  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Scabbing/crusting (extremely rare)
  • Skin discoloration (extremely rare)
  • Scarring (extremely rare)

What downtime can i expect after my Plasma Pen treatment?

Social down downtime can last anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks. We’ve found the term “downtime” can be subjective. Some patients understand that healing time is part of any effective treatment and accept it for what it is. Some patients get scared off by downtime. But if we’re comparing downtime to full surgery, then Plasma Pen downtime is minimal in comparison. If you are comparing it to cosmetic surgery, then no, the downtime is minimal. Expect some redness and flaking for several days after treatment. It’s important to follow the post-procedure instructions provided to you by your medical provider for optimal healing and recovery.

Plasma Pen: The following day

As indicated above, most clients can expect an average of eight days of downtime in the face and neck areas, with progressive improvement each day.

What skin types may not be good candidates for Plasma Pen treatment?

Darker skin tones (African American, African, Latin, Native American, Indian, Middle Eastern, Asian ancestry and people of mixed ethnicities) may not be good candidates for Plasma Pen.

Liposuction and Cosmetic surgery institute is committed to safe and effective treatments for all. When in doubt, we don’t risk it! We do not provide Plasma Pen treatments on Fitzpatrick skin types 4 to 6.
