Keys to longer lasting liposuction success…
This is Dr. Leon Forrester Tcheupdjian, M.D., blogging to you today with tips about keeping your liposuction results looking great. The Liposuction and Cosmetic Surgery Institute is world renowned for using multiple, effective fat eliminating techniques. This allows my fellow cosmetic surgeons and I in our Chicagoland offices to sculpt and contour just about any area of the body to any degree.
That said, no matter how good we are and how many different techniques we use, our patients who maintain results through diet and exercise have the best chance of achieving long term success. I know as much as anyone, I am the “Lipodoc” remember, that liposuction can be that magic pill to that beautiful body you’ve always yearned for. But too often I see patients return for second or third liposuction procedures years down the road because they reverted back to their old lifestyles, complete with sugar-rich diets and non-existent exercise programs.
Fat removal via liposuction is permanent but doesn’t provide a license for unhealthy living
Liposuction is an out-patient procedure that uses suction devices to remove fat cells from targeted areas of the body, such as the abdomen, buttocks, hips or thighs. Liposuction is effective at removing deposits of stubborn fat my patients can’t seem to shed despite consistent efforts with dieting and exercise.
Liposuction removes many actual fat cells, which don’t grow back or regenerate. However, extra fat taken in as calories has to go somewhere and will settle in areas that may not have had excess fat before, such as the upper arms or legs. That said, barring extreme weight gain, or even with just a few pounds gained, the body typically retains the improved, more balanced proportions.
Maintain those results with our specially formulated diet and exercise programs
I tell my patients that liposuction can be viewed as a gateway, a kick-start, to a healthier, more active lifestyle. Once those fatty pockets we’ve targeted with liposuction are removed, you’ll never want them back. That’s why I offer diet and exercise programs that I’ve molded specifically for my liposuction patients after they’ve completed the procedure.
Some practices send you on your way after liposuction with a “good luck” as you walk out the door. Not at the Liposuction and Cosmetic Surgery Institute. We want you to maintain your result, which is why we offer you access to specialty diet and exercise programs that I have carefully crafted specifically for my liposuction patients during my more than three decades in practice.
Today, we have several new, sophisticated techniques that each take different approaches to fat removal. The type of liposuction used depends on each patient’s body type and the body area targeted for fat removal, but it may include:
VASER LIPOSUCTION
-Also known as “high definition liposuction.”
-Specially designed probe delivers ultrasonic energy to the fat layer, thus melting the fat and allowing it to be easily removed.
-Allows the surgeon to perform more precise and artistic sculpting.
LASER LIPOSUCTION
-Also known as “smart lipo.”
-Laser delivers heat energy, which permanently melts fat away.
-Effective in stubborn fatty areas like the chin, arms, hips, abdomen, love handles and saddlebags.
-Heat from the laser promotes skin tightening in addition to fat removal.
CELLULAZE
-Exciting new treatment that attacks the fibrous sub-skin material responsible for cellulite.
-One or two treatments needed for effective cellulite removal (depending on severity of cellulite).
-Independent studies found treatment increases skin thickness by 25% and skin elasticity by 29%.
-Astounding 93% of patients surveyed one year post treatment either “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with treatment.
ThermiRF
–Minimally invasive, radio frequency energy treatment that melts fat instantly while simultaneously tightening the skin
-Effective in these trouble areas: fatty area below the chin into the neck, auxiliary folds beneath the armpit, fatty arms, bulging abdomen, saggy upper knees
Liposuction is best viewed as an initial phase of body contouring that should be kept up or enhanced by maintaining and/or losing weight and exercising to hone body tone and musculature. Many patients find a new motivation to staying in better shape – and better health – after their procedure, while other patients, who are in great shape and need to remove some stubborn fatty pockets, continue their exercise and healthy eating with renewed vigor.
